Biography: Vasileios Charitopoulos is a Research Associate in the Energy Policy Research Group (EPRG) at the University of Cambridge. He holds a diploma in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from University College London (UCL). During his EPSRC-funded doctoral research he developed new theory and algorithms for optimisation under uncertainty with emphasis on energy and process systems. He also investigated and established new frameworks for the whole-system optimisation of Industry 4.0 process systems. He has been a recipient of several awards for his research and teaching performance including being a finalist for the Best Young Researcher global award of IChemE. In 2018, he joined EPRG and he currently investigates the economic optimisation of heat and energy decarbonisation of the UK.
