The Energy Policy Research Group (EPRG) wishes to appoint a Research Assistant to support the research on the EPSRC Autonomic Power System project. More details of the project can be found at: http://autonomicpowersystem.org.uk/
The successful applicant will work primarily on projects looking into two aspects of the future of electricity supply out to 2050. The first of these will involve undertaking a detailed review of past utility (energy and telecoms) consumption behavior and business model evolution in the utility sector in conjunction with colleagues at the University of Strathclyde. This will aim to provide an historical perspective on likely future developments in energy service demand. The second will involve working with colleagues at Imperial College to develop a road map for the development of an Autonomic Power System. Other potential related projects will be subject to negotiation. The Research Assistant will be a member of the EPRG and will be expected to participate fully in all of its activities.
This is a full-time fixed term post, based at Cambridge Judge Business School, for six months in the first instance from 1 November 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter. Requests to work part-time, subject to a minimum of 50% time, will also be considered.
Applicants are expected to hold a Masters in economics or other relevant disciplines. Candidates must have a strong quantitative background and are expected to have advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other statistical/ mathematical software. Proven organisational skills are is essential. Research experience or consultancy work in energy/climate related topics is a strong advantage.
