Biography: Paul Simshauser AM is a Professor of Economics at Griffith University where he specialises in Energy Economics and Energy Policy.  He has more than two decades of experience in the energy sector.  His prior roles include Director-General of the Department of Energy and Water Supply and Chief Economist with one of Australia’s largest utilities, AGL Energy and General Manager Energy Trading at Stanwell Corporation.  He is a Professional Member of the Economics Society of Australia, a Fellow of CPA Australia, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an AFMA Accredited Derivative Dealer.  Paul is also a member of CEDA’s Council on Economic Policy and a Research Associate at the Energy Policy Research Group, University of Cambridge.  He is widely published in academic journals.

Paul was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) at the annual Australia Day honors in 2019 for significant service to the energy sector through executive roles, applied economics and policy research.
