Research Topic: Decarbonisation pathways in energy-intensive industries: The case of the cement industry

Biography: Thea is a PhD student at the Center for Energy, Environment and Natural Resource Governance (CEENRG), Department of Land Economy, University of Cambridge (since October 2019). She is co-supervised by Professor Laura Diaz Anadon and Professor Jorge Viñuales.

She previously studied Economics at the University of Zurich (BA, UZH), International Development Management and Anthropology at the London School of Economics and Political Science (MSc, LSE), Science and Technology Studies with a focus on ‘Science, Innovation and Public Policy’ at the Technical University of Munich (MA, TUM) and holds an Honours Degree in Technology and Management from the Centre for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM, TUM/LMU). Thea spent a semester abroad in Hong Kong (PolyU) and was visiting researcher at Columbia University in New York.

Thea gained working experience on different projects in the public, private and third sector, including with the German Development Cooperation in Nepal (GIZ, Nepal Earthquake Recovery Project), the sustainability consultancy Systemiq in London (working on the Energy Transition Commission), startups (solar battery;  social entrepreneurship) and research consultancies e.g. with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation or Siemens Power and Gas Services.
