Biography: Andres Alonso Rivas is currently Member of the Board of the National Independent Electric System Operator of Chile. He studied electrical engineering at the Federico Santa Maria Technical University of Chile; he has a Diploma in Finance from the Catholic University of Chile; a Diploma in Innovation from Singularity University in Silicon Valley, USA ; a Master in Astrophysics from the University of Columbia, USA, and a Master in Economics from the London School of Economics (LSE) in UK. He has been Gas & Power Senior Manager at ENAP, Energy and Hydro Resources Senior Manager at CODELCO; President of the Energy and Climate Change Committee of the Mining Council of Chile; President of GNL Chile S.A., Vice-President of GNL Mejillones S.A., and Energy and Climate Change Manager at BHP Billiton Base Metals; Head of the Electrical Division at the National Energy Commission, and Head of the Economic Division of the National Economic Prosecutor Office (Antitrust Agency). He is also university professor, has written several technical articles and has participated as a panelist in numerous seminars dealing with energy, economic regulation, antitrust and sustainability.
