Research Interests: Industrial economics, competition policy and regulation of network industries.

Background: Gert Brunekreeft joined the Tilburg Law and Economics Center at Tilburg University June 1, 2004 as a research officer working predominantly on law and economics of energy markets. Before that he had a position as research officer at the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Cambridge, where he was also part of the CMI. Gert holds a university degree in Economics from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and a PhD and Habilitation from Freiburg University in Germany, where he gathered several years of experience on the economics of network industries, most prominently on electricity markets. In the course of his research, Gert published widely on the developments in electricity markets, with an ongoing emphasis on the German electricity supply industry.
